King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, will be crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6 in a solemn religious ceremony conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Various iconic London sites were already decorated for the occasion with the Union Jack flag and commemorative banners donning buildings and streets,
The coronation is expected to be shorter and less extravagant than the three-hour ceremony that installed Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, in keeping with Charles’ plans for a slimmed-down monarchy.
The coronation weekend begins on the morning of Saturday, May 6, with the investiture of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla at Westminster Abbey.
On Sunday, May 7, a concert will be staged in the grounds of Windsor Castle. On Monday, May 8, the public are being invited to volunteer.
