Meta has donated $1 million to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund, a move aimed at improving its relationship with the president-elect, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Meta confirmed the contribution, which is designated for the expenses related to the presidential inauguration.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has been working to repair ties with Trump. Although Zuckerberg did not publicly endorse a candidate in the 2024 election, he took steps toward reconciliation, including a Thanksgiving Eve dinner with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
This follows a period of tension, especially after Trump’s removal from Facebook and Instagram in 2021 for his praise of those involved in the Capitol riots.
Trump had previously warned Zuckerberg in August that he would face severe consequences if he interfered with the 2024 election. However, Meta reinstated Trump’s accounts on both platforms in January 2023.
