Minister killed by bodyguard at his home in Uganda: reports

A minister in the Ugandan government was shot and killed allegedly by his bodyguard on May 2, 2023.

The victim, Charles Engola, was a junior minister in charge of labour. He was a retired army colonel.

The bodyguard is suspected to have shot himself after killing the minister. The motive is believed to be a personal dispute over the bodyguard's wages, as per reports.

The murder took place inside the minister's home in the Ugandan capital Kampala.
