Former US President Barack Obama urged Americans to 'take in the whole truth' about the war between Israel and Hamas, saying that both sides are to be blamed.
In an interview to a podcast hosted by his former White House staffers, Obama said that 'nobody's hands are clean' and that everyone has some responsibility for the conflict.
He added that both Hamas’ actions and Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories were 'horrific' and 'unbearable'. Obama said it was important to acknowledge these realities in order to solve the crisis.
He added that innocent people are dying on both sides.
The former US President also rued the polarisation of the debate on social media and said that on such problems one can't speak the truth. He said one can pretend to speak the truth but what people are doing is actually defending their 'moral innocence'.
