A Ukrainian military officer made an appeal for urgent help to evacuate wounded military personnel and civilians from the Azovstal steel mill in Mariupol.
Speaking in a video via social media, which was released on Wednesday, Serhiy Volynskyy described the situation inside the compound, the last known Ukrainian stronghold remaining in the city.
"We have more than 600 injured guys with different levels of injuries," he said. "There is neither the conditions or medications, and no personnel who can help them."
The officer, who identified himself as part of the 36th Marine Brigade which have been defending the giant steel mill, stated there are "hundreds" of civilians, including children and the elderly, sheltering alongside the wounded.

"The situation is very difficult. There is a big problem with water, food, other supplies," Volynskyy explained.
Ukrainian officers have said Russian forces have been dropping heavy bunker-busting bombs on the steel mill, where people have taken shelter in underground tunnels and chambers.
