Pakistan: Suicide bombing at mosque during Friday prayers in Peshawar; at least 30 dead in terror attack

A bomb blast ripped through a mosque in Pakistan, killing at least 30 worshippers, according to reports.

Officials reportedly said that a terrorist perpetrated a suicide attack at a mosque in Qissa Khwani Bazaar in the Kocha Risaldar area of Peshawar. The suicide bombing occurred during Friday prayers at the mosque. Around 50 people were injured and rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital, as per reports.


Two security personnel were reportedly deployed at the mosque and exchange of fire took place when terrorists tried to enter the place of worship. One of the security personnel died in the gunbattle, according to Peshawar police. Subsequently, a terrorist managed to enter the mosque and trigger the bomb.


Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan reportedly condemned the attack and ordered medical aid for the wounded. Peshawar Chief Minister Mahmood Khan sought a report from the police about the incident, as per reports.
