Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI dies at 95: Vatican

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI,  the first pope in 600 years to resign, has has died, the Vatican announced Saturday. He was 95.

The former pope had been ill for a while due to advancing age and died at his residence in Vatican. 

His body will lie in state in St Peter's Basilica from Monday for people to pay their last respects, the Vatican has announced.
