Shockwaves ran through the South American country of Ecuador on August 9 as a presidential candidate was murdered at a political rally.
Fernando Villavicencio was shot and killed by an unidentified man at a gathering in capital city Quito.
Incumbent president Guillermo Lasso said that the crime will not go unpunished, and that organised crime has gone too far, but will feel the full weight of the law.
