Netherlands municipality Veere launched a campaign to stop sexual activities among nudist beach visitors. The municipality took action on Thursday and put up signage warning visitors about the prohibition of sexual activities in the dunes reports The Guardian.

Veere municipality swung into action after complaints were raised with the water board and local nature organisation regarding the sexual activities being carried out by the naked visitors.

Veere's mayor, Frederiek Schouwenaar, told the Guarding that prohibiting sex acts were important to maintain public order he further added " The dunes are hugely important to the local community and must be protected from undesirable behaviour that damages the natural environment and can disturb other visitors.

The authorities decided the immediate enforcement of the order and eight new information sign boards are to be installed to reinforce their message.

The decision garnered wide support. Naturist organisation, NFN Open en Bloot (Open and Bare) naked recreation association shows support for the decision and said that people who come to sunbathe find sex acts as a nuisance as others and outdoor sexual activities are not naked recreation.

SGP, a conservative, Calvinist party's spokesperson Perry de Visser appreciated the mayor's decision and expressed his gratitude for the mayor's decisive action to address the inappropriate behaviour of the visitors. The Guardian reported.
