Newly elected UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is backing his minister Gavin Williamson, who made headlines for allegedly ‘bullying a colleague.
Cabinet office minister Olver Dowden told UK media that Williamson was regretting his action, however, Prime Minister Sunak continues to have faith in him.
The latest development emerged amid reports of Sunak being criticised for his appointments to key portfolios, especially reappointment of Suella Braverman as interior minister, who earlier faced wrath for breaching email security rules.
Dowden also said the text messages by Williamson to former chief whip Wendy Morton were ‘sent in the heat of the moment.'
Williamson had reportedly used expletive-ridden language in his phone message to Morton, while expressing angst over not being invited to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
Post the incident, the Morton had lodged an official complaint against Willamson.
