Australia's Perth was shocked on 4 February 2023 after a teenage girl was killed by a shark while swimming in a river.

The 16-year-old had jumped off a jet ski to swim with a pod of dolphins when the shark attacked her, as per reports. Police were called around 3:45 pm, and they pulled the girl out of the water. She had suffered severe injuries and died at the scene, cops said.

The deadly incident occurred in the Swan river in Fremantle port area. In the same river in January 2021, a man had been injured by a bull shark.
