In a suspected case of animal abuse, a South Korean man starved more than 1000 dogs to death.
As per media reports, the accused is a 60-year-old man who has confessed to police of "taking in abandoned dogs and starving them until they died."
However, an animal rights group claimed that the accused was paid by dog breeders to get rid of canines that were past the breeding age and were commercially unviable. He has been reportedly starving dogs to death since 2020.
The bizarre case from country's northwest province came to light after a complaint by a local who stumbled upon the accused's house to look for his dog.
Several visuals have surfaced online showing dead dogs in cages sacks and boxes at the man's house. Those rescued reportedly suffer from skin diseases and malnutrition.
