The people of Sudan appear to have won a brief reprieve from violence as the African nation's armed forces and paramilitary agreed to a 3-day ceasefire.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the announcement on April 24, 2023. Blinken said that after hectic negotiations over 2 days, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces had agreed to pause fighting for 72 hours.
More than 420 people have been killed so far, and over 3,700 wounded, as per the UN.
