In a shocking case of apathy, the UK government left two elderly British citizens to fend for themselves in war-torn Sudan, as per the BBC.

This resulted in 80-year-old Alaweya Rishwan, who was differently-abled, dying of starvation after her husband Abdalla Sholgami was shot by snipers. 80-year-old Abdalla was shot and injured while desperately seeking food and water.

What makes the case more upsetting is that the old couple lived just across the street from UK's diplomatic mission in Khartoum, the victims' family claimed.

A British military team even came to evacuate the diplomatic staff, but didn't rescue the elderly couple.
