The suspect behind the shooting and killing of at least 7 people in 2 homes in the Chicago suburb of Joliet has been found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds, authorities confirmed.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Romeo Nance, was located by US Marshals near Natalia, Texas. Police told ABC that it is 'believed that he took his own life following a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials'.

The incident came to the fore after Joliet Police responded to a call at Pheasant Run Apartments where a 28-year-old Nigerian immigrant Toyosi Bakare was reportedly shot in the head. An hour earlier, police had responded to another call on Davis Street, where a 42-year-old man was found shot in the leg. Nance was identified as a suspect in both attacks.

The police informed through X that an investigation has been launched after multiple persons died with gunshot wounds in 2 residences located on West Acres Road.
