A Seoul-based human rights group has said in a report that tens of thousands of people living in China, Japan, South Korea and North Korea might be getting exposed to dangerous radiation because of Pyongyang's nuclear weapon tests.

Radioactive materials may be contaminating groundwater near an underground site where North Korea conducted at least 6 nuclear weapons tests between 2006 and 2017.

The study by the Transitional Justice Working Group said that radioactive materials could have spread across 8 cities and counties near the site, where nearly 10 lakh North Koreans reside.

Neighbouring countries might be at risk from agriculture and fisheries products being smuggled from North Korea.
