In a change of heart, a thief in UK returned a box stolen from a funeral home after finding out that it was filled with grieving letters.
The thief was caught on camera while stealing the white-painted pillar box from Hughes Funeral Directors in Cannock, Staffordshire on March 1
According to the UK media, the thief discovered the reality of the post box on social media where locals had expressed anguish over their emotional letters being stolen.
He was so guilt-ridden that he not only returned the box but also left 20 pounds for the damages caused to the box with an apology letter saying he didn't read any of the letters and they were intact, as per media reports.
Hughes Funeral Directors took to Facebook informing the area residents that their box has been returned in a black bag which also encloses a sorry letter.
The thief's in his apology note said, "I would just like to say I'm so sorry for taking the post box; I didn't read any letter or anything saying what it was. That does not make it right in any way. I'm a scumbag for even taking it to start with. It was late when I saw it on Facebook, and I'm a coward, a lowlife."
