In direct action against high-profile Russians, France reportedly seized a luxury 280-foot yacht owned by Igor Sechin, who is the CEO of Russian oil giant Rosneft.
Igor Sechin is among Russian oligarchs sanctioned by the European Union amid Russia's military assault on Ukraine. The EU reportedly described Sechin as one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's "most trusted and closest advisors, as well as his personal friend."
French customs officers reportedly seized the yacht named 'Amore Vero' or True Love in Italian on March 3. France's finance minister thanked customs officers for enforcing sanctions against individuals close to Russian authorities. The yacht arrived in France's La Ciotat in January and was slated to depart in April.
