The US Air Force member who set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC succumbed to his injuries. The man was identified as the 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell of San Antonio, Texas.

The airman livestreamed his act and yelled "Free Palestine”, before collapsing to the ground. In the video streamed on Twitch, the man dressed in military fatigues put his phone down and filmed himself dousing liquid from a water bottle over his head and lighting himself on fire.

Calling the Israeli crackdown in Gaza as "genocide", the soldier said that would no longer be complicit in the killings. He was on fire for about a minute before law enforcement put it out.
