Amid frequent incidents of gun violence in America, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order on 14 March 2023 in a fresh bid to curb mass shootings.
The executive order aims to increase background checks to buy guns, and promote more secure firearms storage. It also seeks to ensure US law enforcement agencies get more out of a bipartisan gun control law enacted in 2022.
Later, while meeting families of some victims of gun violence in Los Angeles, Biden said that he is "determined to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines".
