The mayor of Tampa, Florida was on a fishing trip when she found 70 pounds of cocaine floating towards her. Officials said the drug was carefully packed with multiple layers of plastic.
The value of the heavy package found by mayor Jane Castor turned out to be $1.1 million, a US Border Patrol officer said.
Castor pulled the package from the water with help from her family and then took it to the shore.
Chief Border Patrol Agent Walter Slosar, who is responsible for the Miami sector, had been seized by officials. He also informed that the “cocaine that was discovered by a recreational boater in the Florida Keys” and did not name the mayor.
