US midterm polls 2022: Aruna Miller becomes 1st Indian-American to hold office in Maryland

Aruna Miller, an Indian-American in the United states has created history by winning mid-term polls in the State of Maryland. The 58-year-old is a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates and was running as Lt Governor of the State on the Democratic ticket.

Here's all you need to know about Aruna Miller. 

Miller, a Democrat immigrated to the United States when she was just 7 along with her family.

Aruna is married to Dave Miller and she currently resides in Montgomery County.

She is said to have her root in Hyderabad.

In 1989, she graduated from the Missouri University of Science and Technology with a degree in civil engineering

Miller, represented District 15 in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2010 to 2018. 

In 2018, Miller contested Maryland’s 6th Congressional District for Congress, finishing second. 

With historic win in the US midterm polls, Miller has become the first immigarnt to hold LG office in Maryland.
