Indian-American politician Nikki Haley strengthened rumours that she is planning to join the US Presidential race with reports of a special event being hosted by her on 15 February 2023 were confirmed.

Haley on 1 February sent out invitations for a special announcement from The Shed at the Charleston Visitor Center. The former Governor of South Carolina is expected to announce her campaign, posing a challenge to her former boss Donald Trump to be the Republican party's candidate in the presidential race in 2024.

If she enters the race, Haley will be the first contender to join the contest against former US President Donald Trump, who is currently the sole Republican seeking his party’s 2024 nomination.

Haley, 51, is the two-term Governor of South Carolina and the former US Ambassador to the United Nations.
