USA sails warship through Taiwan Strait, days after China's encirclement drill

In a game of military tit-for-tat, the United States Navy sailed a warship through the Taiwan Strait days after China's intimidatory exercise.

The US military said that the movement of the warship USS Milius on 16 April 2023 was "routine", and beyond the "territorial sea of any coastal state".

The move came days after China held large-scale air and sea exercises simulating a military encirclement of the island territory of Taiwan.
