Venezuela's Supreme Court upholds Nicolas Maduro's election as president

Venezuela's Supreme Court has declared President Nicolas Maduro as the winner of the disputed July 28 election amid opposition claims of widespread vote fraud.

The court noted that the voting tallies published online showing he lost by a landslide were forged. Maduro celebrated the ruling, describing it as conclusive.

Rival Edmundo González rejected the court's decision and reiterated the opposition's claim that it won the election and has the evidence to prove it.

Multiple foreign governments, including the US, had called on Venezuelan authorities to release the full breakdown of results.
