A camera for WABC-TV in New York was recording on Monday when a van suddenly toppled into a sinkhole in the city's Bronx borough (county).
WABC-TV reports that the sinkhole appeared after heavy rains pounded the area on Monday.
The National Weather Service says the rain storms caused flash floods, temporarily closed roads and highways, and stranded drivers in areas of New York City, its northern suburbs and northeastern New Jersey.
The service says a flash flood shut down part of the Bronx River Parkway in Westchester County, directly north of the city, on Monday afternoon.
