Russian mercenary group Wagner's chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the list of passengers of a plane that crashed on August 23, Russia state media reported.
A private jet from Moscow to St. Petersburg crashed, killing all ten people on board, Russian emergency officials said.
Unconfirmed media reports said the jet belonged to Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner private military company that attempted a coup against the Russian army in June.
Russia's civilian aviation regulator, Rosaviatsia, said Prigozhin was on the passenger list. However, it was not immediately clear if he had boarded the flight.
