A report by Alarabia news says Indian Islamic preacher Zakir Naik arrived in Qatar ahead of FIFA World Cup 2022, where Naik will give religious lectures during the tournament. The news outlet has qouted several social media posts.
Naik fleed from India in 2016 and faces charges of money laundering and hate speech in India.
The report further quotes, Faisal Alhajri, a presenter at the Qatari state-owned sports channel Alkass,who shared news of Naik's arrival in a Twitter post on Saturday saying “Preacher Sheikh Zakir Naik is present in Qatar during the World Cup and will give many religious lectures throughout the tournament,”
Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation was banned by India in late 2016. He was accused of encouraging and aiding its followers to promote hatred or ill-will between different religious communities and groups.
