World Teachers' Day 2021: Celebrated annually on 5th October, World Teachers' Day aims at recognising and appreciating teachers all across the globe. This day was declared in 1994 by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The day marks the anniversary of the ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which was adopted in 1966. As per UNESCO, this recommendation sets criteria for the rights and responsibilities of teachers, as well as for basic and higher education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.

The theme for the year 2021 is, “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.” The theme comes keeping in mind the Covid-19 pandemic and the hard work put in by teachers to ensure that learning never stops. On this day authorities shall work towards finding ways to enable and support teachers so that they continue to contribute to the recovery.
