2-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who was on the run for over 2 weeks for alleged links with the murder of former international wrestler Sagar Dhankar, was arrested by a team of Special Cell, says Neeraj Thakur, Special CP-Special Cell. Coincidentally, May 23 was also the World wrestling day.
There were reports that Sushil was arrested near Jalandhar on Saturday, but it has been confirmed that he was officially arrested in Delhi on Sunday.
After the Delhi court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the celebrated athlete, Delhi Police last week had announced a ₹1 lakh reward for information on the wrestler. Sushil had denied his role in the murder but had been avoiding arrest since then.
