Wrestler Vinesh Phogat who is facing temporary suspension from the Wrestling Federation of India has refuted their claims and said that she has been wrongfully accused of misconduct and indiscipline.
WFI accused Phogat of not staying and training with her teammates and for not wearing the assigned singlet. While she denied two allegations, Phogat apologized to the national federation for wearing another jersey that had her personal sponsor's name on it instead of the assigned jersey.

In her defense, Phogat's managing partner of Krida Legal Vidushpat Singhania told Indian Express that the allegation of staying and training was wrongfully subjected on her. Clarifying about the accusation of not staying with the contingent Singhania said that the wrestler who had traveled separately was only following the Tokyo 2020 Covid protocols. She did not stay with them as the wrestling contingent had to undergo a 3-day mandatory quarantine.
For the training accusation, the lawyer clarified that to match the time with her assigned physiotherapist who was from India's shooting contingent, Phogat had to change her training timing which was duly approved by the Indian Wrestling contingent.
