After day 1 of the World Test Championship match was washed away due to rain, day 2 was an eventful one. India batted well to reach 146/3, before bad light forced early stumps.
Put into bat, openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took India off to a strong start and stitched a 62-run stand. But New Zealand fought back with 3 quick wickets and reduced India to 88/3. That's when Virat Kohli dropped anchor and scored a commanding 44 not out. The skipper found a willing ally in his deputy Ajinkya Rahane who remained unbeaten on 29.
With some rain expected on day 3 as well, India would hope this duo to carry on strongly.
