Zomato clocked in 4,100 orders per minute on NYE, CEO Goyal says

With Covid-19 restrictions in place on New Year's Eve, food delivery platforms witnessed a spike in demand.

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal kept Twitterati up to date with his live tweets on the number of orders the app was getting. Around 6 pm, it received 2500 orders per minute(OPM), surpassing the OPM on the India vs Pakistan match day!

45 minutes later, the OPM reached 3200, then 3500 with 1 lakh live orders! The live tweet session came to a close as Goyal tweeted that Zomato clocked 4100 orders per minute at around 8:22 pm!

People from outside like Turkey and Lebanon also placed orders for their loved ones in India, he added.
