Zydus Cadila's Zycov D to cost Rs 1900, vaccine for kids likely to be available in October

Another big boost to India's vaccination drive as Zydus Cadila gears to launch ZyCov-D, the world’s first DNA vaccine against Covid-19 , in October. Reports indicate that Zydus has pegged the price of the bloodless jab at Rs 1900 per shot and the government is negotiating to reduce it to more affordable levels.

ZyCov-D is the first DNA-based and needle-free vaccine, its price range, compared to other jabs, is set to be higher. The special applicator that the vaccine requires costs Rs 35,000, driving up the price range of the vaccine dose.

The vaccine will be the first in India to be administered to children in the age groups of 12-18 years. The three doses of the ZyCoV-D vaccine will be administered on day 0, day 28 and day 56.
