Congress’ Himachal chief Pratibha Singh praises rival BJP for 'better work'

Himachal Pradesh’s Congress chief Pratibha Singh praised rival BJP, crediting the saffron party for work that was better than their own.

“A lot of things remain to be done in Congress. As MP, I visit my constituency and try to interact with the local people and solve their problems. It is true that the BJP's working is better than ours,” the Lok Sabha MP told ANI.

Pratibha Singh, the wife of six-time Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, said she had urged CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to “strengthen the organisation” ahead of the 2024 elections.

“We are on weak footing there. I urged him again and again that we need to strengthen and the party needs to be organised,” she said.

Singh also spoke in support of the 6 now-disqualified MLAs who cross-voted in favour of BJP candidates in the recent Rajya Sabha elections. “When it has been more than a year and you take no cognizance or listen to them, it is natural for them to be upset,” the 67-year-old told ANI.

Pratibha Singh said that the disqualification of MLAs could affect the Congress' performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Talking to reporters on Thursday, she said that the disgruntled MLAs were giving vent to their annoyance for more than a year, but no effort was made to work out a solution.
