Delhi Riots: Police file 15,000-page chargesheet under stringent UAPA

Sep 17, 2020 02:03 IST

Delhi Police on Wednesday filed a 15,000 pages long charge sheet before a city court under UAPA and other sections over the violence that shook the national capital in February 2020. Police named 15 people for orchestrating the riots that killed at least 53 people and injured hundreds. Packed in steel boxes, 2,692 pages of the vast charge sheet specifies the charges against the accused. The police have listed 747 witnesses in the chargesheet. 51 of the witnesses have already recorded their statements before the magistrate. Clashes broke out in northeast Delhi on February 24 after violence between citizenship law supporters and protesters spiralled out of control.
