When not many gave them even a fighting chance, the Rajasthan Royals proved their critics wrong and were crowned the inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League. Since then, the Royals are searching for their 2nd trophy but their efforts have gone in vain. Despite making it to the playoffs thrice in the last 5 editions they have featured in, Rajasthan seems to crumble under pressure. But with Steve Smith back at the helm and Ajinkya Rahane not even retained, the franchise clearly means business this time around. Though some regular players like Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson still make the core, Rajasthan has reinforcements in the form of David Miller, Robin Uthappa and Andrew Tye. They are also known to nurture young talent and it looks like the way forward this time around as well. The Royals roped in teenagers like Akash Singh, Kartik Tyagi and star batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. Though they look a strong group, Rajasthan would need solid performances from their Indian players in order to make a mark in the 2020 edition.
