Farmers from Punjab continue their march towards Delhi to assert their demands, prompting the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and trade unions to announce a Gramin Bharat Bandh on February 16.
The bandh, scheduled from 6 am to 4 pm, includes a chakka jam from 12 pm to 4 pm on major roads nationwide.
What's open and what's not?
During the Bharat Bandh, emergency services like ambulances, medical shops, and essential events such as marriages and school operations will remain unaffected.
Dr. Darshan Pal, a member of the SKM National Coordination Committee, said that no agricultural or rural work will be conducted on that day, urging the closure of village shops, grain markets, and government and non-governmental offices.
According to the Indian Express report, businesses in neighboring towns will shutter during the strike. Public transport services will be suspended, as roadway employees' unions are participating in the Gramin Bharat Bandh.
Will banks be open on Feb 16th?
As of now, banks will be open tomorrow and will function as per normal. The Reserve Bank of India’s holiday matrix also states that banks will remain open.
