Providing relief to residents of Mumbai, the second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project is scheduled for inauguration on Monday, with the north-bound carriageway from Marine Drive up to Haji Ali set to open to traffic starting June 11.
The tunnel will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and will be closed on weekends for ongoing work. The new road aims to reduce travel time between south Mumbai and the western suburbs by 70% and decrease fuel consumption by 34%.

The project encompasses a 10.58-kilometer stretch connecting Mumbai and Worli, featuring an eight-lane road with a six-lane tunnel below. Designated lanes for buses will be marked on both the road and the tunnel.
Pegged at a cost of around 13,000 crore rupees, the coastal road is a high speed corridor that will connect The Bandra-Worli Sea Link with Marine Drive through a series of tunnels, vehicular interchanges and bridges.
