U.S electric vehicle maker Tesla is planning to manufacture its cheapest EV for India, that would cost Rs 20 lakhs ($24,000), reported Reuters. As per the report, a Tesla representative will also be holding a meeting with India's commerce minister Piyush Goyal to set-up the manufacturing unit in India.
The report also mentions that, the proposed factory would not only cater to the Indian market's demand for affordable EVs but also act as an export hub. This comes after Tesla's efforts to get concession on import tax faced hurdles as the Indian government demanded local manufacturing committments.
