Car launches: India is gearing up for some of the much-awaited cars to be launched in 2024. In 2023, 4.1 million cars were sold with India's Passenger Vehicle sales breaching the 4 million mark for the first time. This was a 8.2% rise from the 3.79 million vehicles sold in 2022, as per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers data.
In the electic vehicle segment, there was a 6.4% surge with Tata in the lead, followed by MG Motors.

Cars under Rs 20 lakh
As per ET Wealth and Cardekho.com, the most anticipated launches include Maruti Suzuki, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Toyota Taisor, Kia Sonet and Tata Curvv.
- Maruti Suzuki Swift: The car is expected to be launched in April with an expected price range of Rs 6 to Rs 9.5 lakh. The running cost for manual transmission for a month is Rs 3,955 and for automatic transmission it is Rs 3,781
- Maruti Suzuki Dzire: It is expected to be launched in June with an expected price range of Rs 6.7 to Rs 10 lakh. The running cost for manual transmission for a month is Rs 3,955 and for automatic transmission it is Rs 3,781
- Toyota Taisor: It is expected to be launched in March with an expected price range of Rs 8 to Rs 13 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can vary from Rs 3,781 to Rs 4,351 per month and for CNG it can be Rs 2,459
- Kia Sonet: Kia Sonet's expected price range is Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.69 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can be Rs 4,622 per month and for diesel it can be Rs 3,360
- Tata Curvv: Tata Curvv is expected to be launched in October with an expected price range of Rs 10.5 to Rs 18 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can be Rs 5,115 per month and for diesel it can be Rs 3,503
Cars between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 40 lakh
As per ET Wealth and Cardekho.com, the most anticipated launches include Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Thar-5 Door, Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Alcazar, Hyundai Tucson.
- Hyundai Creta: The price range is expected to be Rs 11 to Rs 20.15 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can be Rs 5,115 per month and for diesel it can be Rs 4,032
- Mahindra Thar 5-Door: The car is expected to be launched in August with price range of Rs 15-22 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can be Rs 6,692 per month and for diesel it can be Rs 4,740
- Volkswagen Taigun: Volkswagen Taigun is expected to be launched in October with an expected price range of Rs 12-21 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can vary between Rs 4,352-4,835
- Hyundai Alcazar: Hyundai Alcazar is expected to be launched in April with an expected price range of Rs 17-22 lakh. The running cost for petrol vehicle can be Rs 5,444 per month and for diesel it can be Rs 4,032
- Hyundai Tucson: Hyundai Tucson is expected to be launched in June. The running cost for petrol vehicle can be Rs 7,253 per month and for diesel it can be Rs 5,376
