Uber rides will now cost your more! After hiking prices in Mumbai, the ride hailing app has now announced a steep hike in prices for the capital Delhi and NCR as well. Uber India is raising fares by 12% and this may not be the end of the hikes as fuel costs continue to hurt.

Nitish Bhushan Head of Central Operations, Uber India and South Asia said in his statement, "After feedback from drivers and understand that the current rise in fuel prices is causing concern. To help cushion drivers from the impact of the spike in fuel prices, Uber has raised trip fares in Delhi NCR by 12%. Over the coming weeks, we will continue to track fuel price movements and will take further steps as needed.

The rising cost of fuel has been hurting cab drivers who gathered on April 9 demanding subsidy from the Delhi govt. Protest were held at Jantar Mantar and were supported by several unions and cab aggregators. There is a call for an indefinite strike from April 18 if demands are not met.
