General Bipin Rawat, who was killed in a chopper crash on Wednesday, will be cremated in Delhi today with full military honours.
Gen Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others were killed in the chopper crash in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor. All the others killed in the crash will also be cremated with military honours.
The bodies of Gen Rawat and his wife have been kept at their Delhi home for family, friends, and the public to pay their final respects.
There has been a steady stream of politicians,friends and general public to pay a final goodbye to India's top general.
The funeral procession will begin at 2 pm. The funeral itself has been scheduled for 4 pm at the Brar Square Crematorium.
Their mortal remains were brought to Delhi on Thursday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and three Services chiefs paid their respects to India's first Chief of Defence Staff and other armed forces personnel at the Palam Airport.
Earlier on Thursday, Rajnath Singh briefed Parliament on the chopper crash.
He also announced that a tri-service enquiry has been ordered by the IAF into the crash.
