A sitting MLA of the Congress in Gujarat has claimed that he was attacked by BJP workers and leaders a day before the second phase of voting.

Kanti Kharadi, Congress candidate from Danta, reportedly said that BJP candidate Ladhu Parghi and his supporters were armed with swords to attack him. Kharadi said that he ran for 10-15 km and hid in the jungle for 2 hours to escape the attack.

Recounting the attack, Kharadi said, "I was going to my voters. BJP candidate Ladhu Parghi along with LK Barad and his brother Vadan ji were amongst those who attacked us. They were carrying weapons with them and attacked me with swords."

"Whatever happened is unfortunate. I was going to my area as there's an election. I saw that the atmosphere was heated there so I decided to escape. While our car was returning, some vehicles chased us. BJP candidate (from Danta constituency) and 2 others came with weapons, with swords. To escape, we ran for 10-15 km. For 2 hours, we were in the jungle," he said to news agency ANI.
