Amid the ongoing polls, Congress witnessed yet another setback as Indore Congress candidate Akshay Kanti Bam withdrew his nomination on April 29, when voting in the Indore-Malwa region was only a fortnight away.

A picture of him was shared by senior BJP leader Kailash Vijavargiya on X, in which he congratulated Akshay for joining BJP. His caption read, "We welcome Shri Akshay Kanti Bam ji, Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Indore in BJP, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, National President JP Nadda and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and State President VD Sharma."

Indore is all set to go to polls in the fourth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on May 13.

Earlier this month, Congress' Surat candidate Nilesh Kumbhani dropped out of the poll race as his candidature was rejected after the district returning officer prima facie found discrepancies in the signature of the proposers. The party’s substitute candidate for the seat, Suresh Padsala, also had his nomination form rejected.
