Lok Sabha polls: violence mars voting in West Bengal, TMC worker hospitalised

Reports of clashes between workers of BJP and TMC surfaced as voting began in three seats of West Bengal on April 19.

According to Hindutsan Times, at least one person was injured at Chandmari near Cooch Behar town. Stone-pelting was also reported.

A local TMC functionary was hospitalised after he was allegedly injured in a crude bomb attack. State minister Udayan Guha rushed to see him in the hospital.

West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura saw over 15% voting till 9 am in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections being held today.

Polling is being held in more than a hundred seats spread across 21 states and Union Territories.

Eight states and three Union Territories are going to polls in a single phase, including Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.
