Arun Govil, the actor who played Ram in the popular series 'Ramayan' on Doordarshan, has been named as the BJP candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut.

While speaking to reporters in Meerut on Tuesday, Govil said he is not fighting the elections to engange in politics but to work for the people.

'I will not do politics. I can't do what is defined as politics. I don't know how to. I am here just to give away what I have- love, compassion, and empathy,' he said.
