West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress outperformed the BJP in the state in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Contrary to exit polls, the TMC is slated to deliver a far better result with the latest trends showing the party leading on 31 of the 42 seats. BJP lagged far behind as it led on just 10 seats.

However, Banerjee's decision to go solo, rejecting INDIA alliance at the state level, appears to have made her battle tougher. It was evident from the fight in Baharampur, where TMC's Yusuf Pathan is in a neck-and-neck battle with Congress' Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
