Nakul Nath, a member of Congress and the son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, is the wealthiest candidate in the initial phase of the Lok Sabha elections, with assets totalling ₹717 crore, as per a study by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR).
Recently, there were rumours that both Kamal Nath and his son might switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) due to dissatisfaction with the Congress party's performance. However, the Congress refuted these claims, emphasizing Kamal Nath's long-standing association with the party, dating back to his endorsement by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1979.
Nakul Nath, nominated to contest from Chhindwara, is closely followed by AIADMK's Ashok Kumar from Tamil Nadu's Erode, who declared assets worth ₹662 crore, and Sivaganga BJP candidate Dhevanathan Yadav T with assets of ₹304 crore.
Nakul Nath succeeded his father in representing the Chhindwara constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, despite the BJP's sweeping victory in Madhya Pradesh. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Bay State College in Boston, Massachusetts, and is recognized as a successful entrepreneur, with assets exceeding ₹660 crore, according to Myneta.info.
His financial investments span various sectors, including shares, bonds, and debentures, with stock market holdings valued at around ₹6 crore. Nakul and his spouse jointly hold over ₹8 crore across 11 bank accounts, primarily concentrated in a Dubai-based bank.
Furthermore, Nakul has investments of ₹29 lakh in PPF, ₹2 lakh in LIC, and insurance policies worth ₹70 lakh as of 2019.
