Meet K Annamalai, also known as 'Singham Anna.' He's an engineer, a former IPS officer, and now the BJP's candidate for the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency. At 39, he's making his debut in Lok Sabha elections.
Annamalai joined BJP in 2020 and quickly became prominent, becoming the youngest BJP president in Tamil Nadu in 2021. Despite losing in the 2021 assembly elections, his rise in BJP was swift, leveraging his appeal to the youth.
As an IPS officer, Annamalai served in Karnataka, earning the nickname 'Singham Anna' for his tough approach. He left the police force in 2019, following a journey to Kailash Mansarovar that made him reassess his life.
Annamalai holds an engineering degree and an MBA from IIM-Lucknow. During his tenure as an IPS officer, he even studied Islam to better understand its teachings.
He's known for his powerful speeches, with one on artificial intelligence recently going viral. In 2023, he led the 'En Mann En Makkal' yatra across Tamil Nadu.
